About
Susan discovered the art of enamelling from Ginny Lancaster, after moving to California. She started experimenting with enamels and expanded her own unique style after marriage and the birth of the first five of her nine children.
In 1972 Susan moved to England, balancing her art with bringing up her growing family. She started anew, developing her unique style and technique of enamelling. She opened her first art gallery/studio, "Pigs can Fly", in Devon, after a successful 3 week exhibition at Harrods. By then her work was selling throughout England, in Amenca, Japan and Europe.
Susan spent four years in Greece with her four youngest daughters, working and selling her enamels before returning to England.
Susan lives in the Algarve now, slowly restoring an old farmhouse and concentrating on her enamelling. She is expanding her work to include mosaics and stained glass with enamels. Susan Searle Enamels can be seen in many art galleries and discerning shops and restaurants throughout the Algarve. Her dream to create a cultural centre for teaching the arts will soon be realised.
